I have such a respect for this incredible master craftsman! Making wooden stringed instruments is such a balance of art & science… it’s hard for me to even fully understand all that goes into each finished product. Each one is truly a work of art.
All this being said, it was a privilege to photograph guitar maker Gearld Strickland in his downtown Dayton workshop. In addition to his raw, inspiring space, his respect and care for his craft is such a compelling sight to capture. I simply loved spending this time with him, watching him work, and finding those special moments when magic seemed to spark right out of his hands.
Ultimately, we used these photos as the canvas for Gearld’s new website! Check out how I weaved the colors, textures, and vibe of his workshop into the feel of his site. I’m really proud of how it turned out!
